MLD is an advanced therapeutic massage treatment that stimulates the lymphatic system.
what happens during a treatment
A consultation will take place at your first appointment. This will help to determine whether MLD is suitable for your condition. A treatment plan and your expectations can then be discussed. The therapy itself is a very gentle rhythmic massage technique carried out on bare skin. It is best that lotions have not been applied prior to treatment. Clients usually find the treatment incredibly relaxing and often fall asleep. If necessary measurements are taken for compression garments to ensure we get the best possible therapeutic outcome. In some cases intensive treatment with compression bandaging will be advised.
what is the lymphatic system?
The lymphatic system is part of the immune system. It is involved in fighting disease and removing toxins from the circulatory system. When it becomes damaged or overloaded swelling occurs in the tissues.

Primary lymphoedema is where a person is born with an impaired lymphatic system . Early treatment is really important in preventing the condition from worsening and further problems developing.
